Well, it's not swapping at all, as far as I can see. The delays seem to 
be caused by spikes in CPU utilization, which is really odd -- why would 
a mouse click cause CPU utilization to spike to 100% ? I'm gonna try the 
Knoppix CD and see what happens. If this is a hardware problem, it would 
give my wife an opportunity to request for a new notebook.
