Compiled on Mar 11 2004 for kernel 2.6.4.

Not in this case, cause i compiled everything into the kernel.

Nope, not there.  But for this kernel i intentionally left it out.  I
shouldn't need that, right?

i don't have any wavs to test.  just alot of mp3s and assorted movie
formats that mplayer normally can handle.

yea, i've gone through that a few times, but it seems to assume that i
want OSS emulation, and it also seems to be targeted at 2.4.x kernels
since alot of it talks about the APIs present in 2.4.x
