We already pay for e-mail via the ISP service charges. What we are also
paying for is the irresponsibility of both Microsoft and some ISP's who
permit propagation of SPAM and worms.
Gates is trying, not very convincingly, to create a diversion. I have
been telling correspondents who use Windows to visit Steve Gibson's
website (grc.com) and download and install his small programs that deal
with some of the Windows vulnerabilities. Of course, Gates should be
doing that rather than blowing smoke.
I have received some e-mails from strangers angry over e-mails they
received from me. These of course are the result of te various worms.
I politely explain that the e-mails they get are coming from infected
Windows systems, not me.
I then explain I use Linux, and why. Apparently, this has resulted in
some converts to Linux. Perhaps this is why Gates is now taking up arms
against his products.
