Never ascribe to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity
- Robert Heinlein (Moon is a Harsh Mistress, I think)
Little known fact among scientists :
Occam's Razor was developed by William of Ockham (Occam), a famous
theologian, and one of the Spiritual Franciscans. He lived from
1300-1349. Attacked scholasticism and promoted nominalism, and
stressed free will and the importance of objectivity for things
of the intellect. He carried forward the work of Duns Scotus, whose
name was used as a perjorative by his opponents (dunce).
Occam's Razor - given two propositions, the one with the fewer assumptions is
superior.
