I left out the wink.  It is Occam's Razor.  Used heavily in the scientific 
method.  Basically, you pick the simplest explanation for any given model. 
(Yes, I know there is more to it than that.)  Used to "shave off" extraneous 
parts of a hypothesis to reduce the chance of introducing errors into models. 
  Closely related; "Everything should be as simple as possible, but no 
simpler."  A. Einstein.

In any case, neither applies.  XFree by itself an XFree?? with several other 
numbers does not trigger the "error".  (My apologies for going off half 
informed.)  I can't imagine what M$ was doing that passed for thought that 
day.  It seems such an odd project to block, especially now that the license 
fiasco is taking place.
