KDE file browser question: ?Thumbnails

Just reposting this question.
I still don't see how to may KDE store the thumbnails for
jpg's all such, which makes browsing image directories
with KDE almost impossible.
I have fussed with the Browser previews tab in control
panel but these doesn't seem to have anything to do with
caching thumbnails.
