Laptop install issue

Turns out the answer *was* on tuxmobile after all. Apparently HP laptops 
give linux hardware detection procedures fits and you need to create 
keyboard activity while the hardware detection process is running. 
Simply repeatedly pressing the space bar while booting from the install 
CD worked.
