I'd use the one that comes with XFree. One of my sandbox systems here 
has an off-brand Radeon 7000-something in it. XFree is using the 
'radeon' driver under FC1 (XFree version 4.3.0).

Given the amount of problems people seem to have in getting the 
vendor-supplied binary drivers to work, I generally just stay away from 
them. The XFree drivers work well enough for most of us.
