XFree86 vertical refresh rate.

quoth M.W. Chang:

| Does the VESA display driver allows a vertical refresh rate higher
| than 60Hz? I tuned the first parameter to higher values, but there
| was no visible change at all.

the vesa stuff is a whole nother kleenex o' snot, because vesa stuff is
written to a standard that is floated out there for hardware guys to
write to also, so it's too ships that collide in the night (sinking
with the loss of all aboard). vesa has some of the aspects of "well,
nothing *else* worked," as well as the ability to conflict badly on
some systems, with the kernel vesa stuff confounding xfree's vesa
stuff, which already isn't always exactly hardware specific (strafing
the lifeboats).

in short, if there's a way to use another driver, do it. or at least try
it before resorting to the vesa stuff.
