Scanner adaptor question

I have a micotek scanmaker e3 scaner.

It attaches using a scsi adaptor that I believe fit into
an ISA slot.

It used to work fine but I had to replace the computer
driving it.

Anyway,  I am without a scsi adaptor and fooling with
this thing.

Is there a way to make the parallel port work like a scsi
adaptor? The cable with the scanner fits nicely onto the
parallel port, making me hopeful. As I recall, the IOMega
drives were scsi but ran off the parallel port.
