Yeah, Right!  Joe Average Consumer doesn't have much chance when confronted
by the legal forces of companies like General Motors.

I won't go near anything from General Motors after getting totally screwed
when I bought a new 1980 GMC van which had a multitude of problems
including such minor things as not being able to start for 20 minutes after
it was shut of which made fuel stops on the highway interesting.  Multiple
trips back to the dealer didn't get any of these things fixed.

I returned the van to the dealer under the Magnason Moss Warranty act,
accompanied by my racing partner and room mate who was chief automative
investigator for the Council of Better Business Bureaus.  I was a binding
arbitrator for the Montgomery County Office of Consumer Affairs at the time
so was fairly well hooked into the system then.  I had also been called as
an expert witness in several automative cases (and my testimony won the
cases for the side that hired me :-).

When we finally got this to court, GM had hired one of the largest law
firms in Virginia which totally outclassed my attorney (who was at the time
working for the Montgomery County Office of Consumer Affairs).  The judge
basically ignored my testimony, and wouldn't let me even explain to my
attorney when he didn't understand technical questions.
