I have had one for about 7 years (The cheap model ?S
series). I got the 5 year/60,000 mile carcare plan. The
plan paid for itself just in oil changes, and I got a free
ring job in the bargain. I didn't pay a penny in repairs
or routine maintenance for five years. My daughter bought
a Corolla, a very fine car, and boy do they smack it
to you when you buy it (How about a 1500 dollar dealer
hold-back?) and on routine maintenance.

My Saturn has 80,000 miles on it and, aside from the ring
job, not a single problem. Excellent car in snow. Handles
great. I drove it at 75 miles per hour from Boston to
Baltimore two years ago on 95 in a heavy rainstorm most
of the way, and never felt the slightest tendency for the
car to wander or feel unstable. I love it. My friend who
drives Volvos calls it a piece of crap, but I don't mind,
since his cars must cost him three times as much to own
as I my Saturn.
