Have you run 'apt-get update' after editing your sources.list? You
need to do that or it won't pull from the new source you added.

I have been in the same boat. I was wanting to check out Libranet 2.8.1
but I just couldn't part with the $75 bones at this point. And the 2.7
seemed ok but outdated. In my search I discovered a Debian based
distro(based on testing/unstable) called Mepis. I tried it and love
it. It is a live cd like Knoppix and very much a desktop based distro
aimed for ease of use. Installs to hd very easily, tons of packages,
KDE, etc. You can either pay $10 for a download from the Mepis site or
there are some mirror sites that are free, albeit slower, to download
from. If you like it there are 4 levels of (optional) registration from
$5 to $30. Not mandatory, just a way to say how much the distro is
worth to you.
