Con gusto: here is the post from the Libranet forum:

Configure the Memory category ---> Tools --> Options... menu,. Up the 
graphics cache to 15 MB for "Use for OpenOffice.org" and 4.0 MB memory 
per object, instead of the default values of 9 MB and 2.4 MB, This cut 
down the initial load times on my machine. Usually loads between 3-7 
seconds, depending on the existing memory and system load. Worked for me.

I configured OO 1.0.2 on my Libranet 2.8; start up time is a few seconds 
less - no major improvement on my 1 gHz Celery/ATA66/384 MB box though.
