I use 1.3.
Gimp may be capable but it's much less intuitive. Layers
for example. Very simple in photoshop.
Another example is color correction. This is when you take
a picture and have the wrong white balance. In photoshop
this is so simple to fix it's hardly worth talking about. I
still don't know how to do that in gimp. I am sure it can
be done but I don't have the time to search the various
tools/dialogs/scripts with their numerous confusing options
for the answer.
I have never read anything but the menus in photoshop.
I could go on but I don't have my flame suit handy.
