spam out of control?

Spam is out of control, but I'm getting no more, perhaps fewer than 6
months ago.

Most of my spam masquerades as an old mailing list that I enrolled for 2
years ago, and I send all this directly to /dev/null with a simple
filter rule.  Other than this, I only get a half dozen a week. 
Interestingly enough, I've gotten none of the ...doom virus mailings, so
my upstream provider (comcast) must be dropping these.
