wireless access point

Hi all

  Well my wireless is working great on my laptop here and at school. But I have
small setup problem. I have a neighbor who has a wireless ap and his shutdown for
some reason, but he was still on the internet. He is approx 100 -125 ft away.
Obviously he is on my ap. if I enable wep and set the keys, I no longer can get
out to the router or internet. How do I fix this. My laptop is a gentoo 1.4 with
kernel 2.4.20r8. with an smc2532 card. I do use my laptop to travel around with
also. Let me know if more info is needed, I will supply that.  Thanks
