Why not use the "New message to mailing-list" button?
Create a folder, tell kmail it holds a mailing list, and enter the e-mail 
address you want as the posting address in the folder's properties. Select 
the folder, click on the New message to Mailing-List icon and away you go.

FWIW, I replaced the New Message icon with the New Message to Mailing-List 
icon on kmail's toolbar since, if a posting address is not defined, both 
buttons act the same.
