gentoo emerge and blocks

There was something about this a few months back in the Gentoo discussions.
I think that at that time they suggested updating qt before installing kde
3.1.4, mainly because qt was doing something that would be incompatible
with earlier KDE. As I recall, I did so. There was also a discussion of how
to overcome this. Have you tried searching the forums?

I think the problem is that you have some KDE2 libs installed. If you check
the line in your second listing, it says <kde-base/kdelibs-3.1.4, which
means that it does not want any kde stuff less than 3.1.4. My understanding
is that systems which make this complaint probably have kde2 libs installed
as well. What do you get from:

	qpkg -q kdelibs-2 

Any packages listed would have to be updated to use kde3 or be removed. At
least that would be the most sane thing to do. There may be other options.
