This is just a guess, but I believe your problem could be the result of a 
corrupted config file. IIRC I've had something similar in the past and the 
simplest way to correct it is:

1)	Find ~/.kde/share/config/kickerrc,
2)	Rename it
3)	Restart KDE (login out & back in)

KDE should recreate a clean kickerrc file. Also, you might take a look at 
~/.kde/share/apps/kicker/ for problems.
