I was thinking of learning tcl/tk, but went for python with tkinter. Now 
wxPython looks promising.

Maybe a second look at tcl is warranted, but it seems to be slipping in 
popularity. (at least I read that a couple of times lately) Don't know why.

Now lazarus, which uses pascal, has caught my fancy.
