Gentoo announced earlier this week that they were going to be transitioning to 
s new server and that there would be some interuption of service on Wednesday 
or Thursday night (memory fails me).  Maybe that activity didn't go as 
planned.

My last email from the group appears to have been on Saturday morning at 9AM.
