Speaking as a newcomer and someone who is not a computer professional, I
would regret greatly the demise of this mailing list and the SxS site. I
became aware of, and began experimenting with Linux relatively late, compared
with most of you gentlemen & ladies. COL 2.4 was my first Linux experience
and, through that, eventually discovered linux-sxs.org. Since then, I have
moved on to Debian, but I remain subscribed to this list.

To my mind, this list is as much about community as it is about sharing
technical knowledge and, while I don't have that much technical knowledge to
share, I have enjoyed your tolerating me as a member of the community and
listening to your opinions and personal experiences. (Occasionally, I do find
something to contribute.) There are more active lists (debian.user comes to
mind) but the volume of submissions is too great for me to keep up with, so I
just scan the archives when I have a specific questions. Whereas, following
this group is like meeting a group of friends at the local pub.

I share your hatred of M$. I dispise what they and Bill have become (I can't
say that I hate the man, though, as I've never met him. I'll continue to give
him the benefit of the doubt, personally, until I learn that he beats his
wife, etc. ;-) and I love the promise that Linux and open source software
holds for the benefit of (wo)mankind. As a businessman, I have no problem
with commercial software, I just believe that in this new, information age,
some areas are better served by open source, while others by commercial
software and am content to let a free marketplace determine which is which
(unfettered by any monopolist, be they M$ or the RIAA).

	Long live linux-sxs.org.
