Thanks to the replies I took another look at pg_hba.conf and
postgresql.conf. Yes I had done all the above and then some. As murphy
would have it, the "then some" was the culprit. I can now connect to
postgresql with eestock. Unfortunately, I've messed something else up
and the default passwds of eestock don't work. I'll just go over my
notes and see what did I mess with that I shouldn't have messed with<G>
