Give wxWindows a look ( http://www.wxwindows.org/ ). If you're not 
afraid to strap on your combat gear and do battle with C++, it is a very 
impressive cross-platform gui framework. Makes programming directly to 
MFC, QT, KDE, and GTK obsolete, IMHO. Includes a considerable library 
for image manipulation and many other helpers also.
