If your system(s) support ATA 66 or 100, I can recommend a Western
Digital "Jumbo" drive with the 8 MB cache.
Seagate also offers a lne of drives with 8 MB cache, but I have not seen
any reviews about these yet.
I have two WD "Jumbos" in my boxes, and a third waiting to be installed
in my "lab rat."

Hdparm reports 38-42 mps on my ATA 66 Celeron box, and 48-52 mps on my
P4 box. Both have a WD 80 GB "Jumbo" installed.

There have been in the past some critical comments about WD drives, but
I have never had one fail on me yet.
My first PC, a Kaypro, has a WD 85 MB (connected to an 8-bit(!) IDE
interface card) and it still works.
