I believe your setup is correct. You can search the gentoo-user archives at
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=gentoo-user, since this has had some discussion
in the past.

check /etc/devfsd.conf?

Exactly. Gentoo does not mount /boot at boot time. If you prefer to have it
mounted, remove 'noauto' from the /etc/fstab entry.
Personally, I never create a separate /boot partition. YMMV.
