ALSA weirdness with 2.6.0

Sorry for this redundant reply - I wrote it this morning in a hurry 
before going off to work without reading the complete thread.
Perhaps you should turn to the alsa-devel list where all the developers 
and the alsa kernel maintainer (Jaroslav) are present.
