Yow! I have a standard 104 key US PC keyboard. I have no umlaut key,
only the ". My tilde and carat are on different keys (none of my keys
has three symbols, only two at most).
OK, if I press the double quote and a space, I get: ".
If I press the double quote twice in a row, I get: ?. (notice the
difference?)
If I press the double quote and the u, then I get: ?.
