[linux-elitists] Just Linux Hardware (re-opened)

Although I applaud the approach, won't this duplicate things like linuxusb
or linux1394 sites that already have a database? Perhaps for those it would
be better to have a direct link and just use their database. Only develop
databases for those things without one. Searches are, of course, more
difficult that way.

Perhaps you could pioneer a format (like RSS does for other info) that the
various hardware sites could share. In fact, it could be interesting if each
site had some sort of RSS feed of their devices so the information could be
shared. I have seen RSS-based search engines for Amazon, where the
requesting site uses some URL containing a search pattern and the return
info is regular RSS so that it can be displayed using existing tools.

That way, you could still give it your own look and feel.

I am sure there are also better things than RSS for this, but is is a simple
technology that even I have been able to get working.
