esr tells me that the gpl requires them to keep it available for three 
years. now, it's interesting that they would use *that* rationale, if 
they did; perhaps they do not care to have the fsf take them on just 
now. perhaps they believe that they can take out the gpl in the ibm 
suit -- it's certainly mentioned.
