BTW, this is not a Unix requirement. When MS started putting spaces in
names, all the PATH and such variables needed quotes as well. Or you had to
figure out the 8 character equivalent name and hope it did not change.
Unix has always (in my 15 years of use) supported spaces in names. It was
just discouraged for the reason that all these damned quotes would be a
PITA. And they are.
