2.5.x kernel questions

This one is for those brave enough to have been playing with 2.5.x
kernels. I build my first 2.5.x today, 2.5.68 to be precise.

Overall, its not too bad of a mess, although i've got some 'interesting'
errors in dmesg that i'd like to run by you folks:

1) None of the entries in my /etc/modules.conf got parsed. I was able to
manually load the modules i needed with modprobe, but i'm kinda puzzled as
to how to resolve this without breaking my fully functional 2.4.20 kernel
configuration.
2) I'm seeing this appear immediately after all the filesystems
get mounted (BTW, i'm using XFS) "warning: process `update' used the
obsolete bdflush system call Fix your initscripts?" Any idas what this is
about?
3) I've got a massive number of ACPI errors similar to this "ACPI-1120:
*** Error: Method execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.SBRG.PS2M._STA] (Node
cfe38680), AE_AML_REGION_LIMIT" Should I even both with ACPI, since
this is not a laptop?
4) This appeared immediately before it detects my SCSI controller "scsi
HBA driver sym53c8xx didn't set a release method, please fix the template"
5) My swap partition failed to get activated "version 0 swap is no longer
supported. Use mkswap -v1 /dev/hda2". Is it safe to do this if i switch
back to 2.4.20?

That's what i've found so far. If this stuff is documented somewhere,
please point the way, and i'll gladly start reading.

thanks!
