i don't know if it's what i'm looking for, but it's pretty sexy and i 
just downloaded and will build it; if as mentioned siag will run in a 
pure console, then a lot of the major food groups will be available 
as console apps. whereupon the next little project will be putting 
together a machine that has nothing x or x-related, and is populated 
solely by console applications set up so as to make them as easy to 
use as frigging gui desktop apps are.

this could be fun. and then watch the world beat a path to my door. 
(though, now that i think of it, i don't want the world here, and 
they'd probably have pitchforks and torches anyway . . .)
