Playing my first DVD... (on Gentoo?)

There are ebuilds for 0.9.18 and 0.9.19 as well. If they are not yet marked
as stable only means that the ebuild maintainer has not done so. Nothing at
all stops me from installing it. It is not a police policy. It is a value
judgement by the maintainer and, perhaps, the Gentoo user community. So, I
will try a newer release.

I did not mean to imply that. I just remember that when I compiled from
sources by hand on my Caldera box, there was something about encrypted
support needing to be specifically enabled. But then again, my brain seems
to have a mind of its own these days...

I obviously need to check the libdvdcss install.

Are there any DVDs that would not play even if libdvdcss is set up properly?
Specifically, the European releases of, say, Shrek? At least I can verify
that the DVD itself is not the issue.

What about regions?
