Uhhhh, you missed my point ... If you read news from elsewhere than the
United States, or critically reviewed the news here, you would note a
growing world-wide distrust of what is beginning to be perceived as an
American cowboy political agenda. It has apparently not been lost on a
significant portion of the world's population that the American doctrine
of freedom, human rights and the rule of civil law seems increasingly to
go only so far as it coincides with America's economic interests -
abroad and at home.

America can bitchslap Saddam anytime it wants, and can do it again and
again if it wants to, but what's the point? There have always been
Saddam's, there will always be Saddam's and at present all America is
doing is playing into his hand of "poor Iraq, see how the mean old
American's persecute us Muslims to protect their oil supply?"

The mistake America made the first time around of not burning the nation
of Iraq to the ground using Saddam's flaming corpse as a torch should
not now be compounded by useless rhetoric and superpower bullying.
Better that America reflect that there is a world out there, much of
which views it as avoricious, wasteful and arrogant, and exhibit some of
the deep humility and wisdom that properly compliments incredible power.

And then, if this Saddam or any other, one man or many, comes along and,
after being duly and publicly warned (which he certainly has been) the
anger and horrible retribution with which our nation would rise to
vengence (and that's exactly what it is) would not be seen as the
unfocused, petulent lashing out of an oil bloated brat, but rather as
the just retribution of the righteously offended.

As for me personally, the very least, when it is my turn to be judged by
the men and women who will surely die in the coming years, I hope that
they judge me and my nation worth the terrible price they will have paid
and turn their hauntings elsewhere.

I'm done - sorry for the intrusion.
