It is truly amazing how political dialog degenerates into armchair 
psychology.  Iraq has long been an enemy (religiously) of Saudi Arabia and 
al-Qaida.  It has refused to support it.  On the other hand, if we want to 
cut off al Qaida's funding, we'd be attacking Saudi Arabia (also a rather 
cruel and corrupt dictatorship).  But the US has a unique situation.  Iraq 
was an embarrassment to Bush's father and it would (according to Bush and his 
major supporters) harm his credibility if we don't attack Iraq.  And, heaven 
knows, nothing is more important than that the US President should not be 
embarrassed.
