yeah, i am afraid so... haha....I guess after uprading glibc, one must 
at least compile a few packages to double-check the process. I didn't 
know that.... :)

/lib/cpp failed sanity check.... what the freak is it?... I DON'T want 
to buy another distribiton because something that could be done myself. 
kernel 2.2.x to 2.4.x may be a wide gap (involving over 10 packages), 
gilbc-2.2.1 to glibc-2.2.5 shouldn't be a big issue.
