HTML question: Columns

HTML dummy here.

I have a bunch of long text documents I want to format into two columns
when they appear in a browser window. I want the documents to look
like they would look in any wordprocessor with two newspaper columns
defined with all the page breaks done for you, nice column separation,
and text flowing in the right direction, and so on.

Is there a tag that will do this in HTML? I can't find anything except the
<table> tag which doesn't even come close to what I want to do.
