Why won't they unmount?

I forget which distro you said this was.  Has this always been a problem,
or just suddenly?  Have you looked in the equivalent of rc6.d to see what
order stuff is being killed?  Perhaps a service or daemon isn't getting
axed until after it tries to unmount stuff?

What does the output from 'mount' look like?
