Ok, tried mplayer and it worked fine, thanks for that had forgotten it was 
installed.

BTW I have re-subbed to Caldera list last Thursday night to lurk and possibly 
offer rpm updates.. Howeve I have receive NO mail at all up to now ?? I had 
received confirmation and sent it back, then received the 'you are now 
onlist' email the zilch.
