Still the best...

I've been poking around with different linux distributions at work, just
getting a taste for how well or poorly things have progressed for the
pack...
So far, I've been through the latest versions of PEANUT, LYCORIS and SUSE.
SUSE is the best of the pack for being full featured, LYCORIS was a joke,
it doesn't even have Midnight Commander on the dist cd... and PEANUT...
well... it sported all the the very latest linux applications possible and
was quite interesting.... but I have yet to get it to even see the PCMCIA
resources on any of the various laptops I run herd on. I espcially liked
the quickness of X on PEANUT. It runs version 4.2.99 and really was a
pleaure to work with... If only I can get PCMCIA going on it... I'll work
on it more this weekend.
Which brings me to the meaning behind the subject line of this message. As
poorly as it's been promoted, taken cared of, etc... nothing even comes
close to OpenLinux. Once you get it installed, you end up with totally
functioning install, no bull shit. A quick overlay of a few config files
with pre-edited ones, restart a few daemons and... you're all done. I can
only hope that United Linux isn't "the death knell for OL"... Damn... it
rhymes too...
That said, good night to all.
