<OT> Converting tiff to ps: A question of quality

Scribbling feverishly on May 06, Joel Hammer managed to emit:

I've also experienced the same lossiness when going from TIFF to most
image formats. Perhaps GIMP of some such program gives better results or
convert can be fed one or more switches to fix the lossiness?
