Yes. As a side note, I discovered that the defaults (nothing that I
monkeyed with) were different on my desktop and my laptop, even though
both were similar gentoo systems with the same kernel. The laptop
brought up the recorder with DMA off. On the desktop, I had to invoke
hdparm.

Yes, the shiny gui stuff is nothing but front end. Does even cdrdao
have its own engine? I thought everything used cdrecord under the
covers.
