Just a single snide remark. I've never found genkernel to be worth a
$#@%, but others swear by it. My guess is if you had compiled a real
kernel to your machine specs, you would have got up and running
quickly.

Who needs a kernel with every module in the world? I could get that
with any other distro. OTOH, sometimes genkernel "just works".

Ah well, welcome to gentoo.
