Installing packages directly from the Debian repository would definitely be 
risky and not recommended. But their "Universe" repository isn't Debian, it's 
their own rebuild of the Debian repository. Universe is definitely unsupported 
but it is built for Ubuntu. Or that's how I interpret this FAQ item:
