I've only tried it once (Release Candidate 2), but I'm sure it includes the
option of preserving existing partitions. IIRC there is a choice, either of
letting the installer partition or drive automatically, or an "expert" choice
of doing it manually. With the manual option you can reuse existing
partitions, or skip them completely.
