xfce session manager question

OK, I'm running the latest xfce4, and the session manager is, of
course, enabled and working almost correctly. Unfortunately, the
session manager still has the old bug, namely it retains certain
applications for auto-restart regardless of whether they are still
running at shutdown time.

In my case, the session manager always wants to restart firefox on two
different desktops, and this persists from restart to restart, even
though I'm only running one.

Where can I clean out this behavior? I don't find anything in .xfce4
that looks like a file for the session manager..
