Haven't tried it yet, but then I'm not a big fan of transparency. My
old eyes can't pick out the necessary details from a screen with
images floating through from underneath. ymmv.

OTH, I've gotten a lot less bleeding edge of late. I just let the
gentoo stalwarts catch the arrows, and by the time they mark the
package ready for testing, it's usually painless.

You could check on www.gentoo.org -> forums to see if anyone has
opened a thread on this topic. You don't need to sign up for anything
to view forums, only if you want to post.
