termcap hell

Assuming you're doing a network connection, not serial, Facetterm is 
unneeded. You can simply run multiple telnet or SSH sessions in parallel. 
This should simplify your search.

Then try Linux as a terminal type.

Then try Anzio as your terminal emulator.
